What Happens When You Switch WorkMusic Moods Mid-Session?
How the WorkMusic mood carousel changes playback when music is playing or paused, and what its session events measure.
Select another WorkMusic mood while audio is playing and the player starts the new mood. Select a mood while playback is stopped and the scene changes without starting music. Knowing the difference lets you preview the available scenes quietly before you decide to play one.
The carousel selects a scene, not a playlist track
On a WorkMusic mood page, scroll the cards near the bottom. Light, Atmospheric, and Dark jump to parts of the carousel; those buttons do not play audio. Choose a card to make its scene active. If the previous mood was playing, WorkMusic loads the new one. If it was stopped, press the large play button when you are ready.
For a simple listening comparison, try one scene, then select another at the same system volume. Does the sound sit behind your particular task or keep drawing your attention? The mood labels organize scenes, not proven cognitive states. No focus test is attached to a Light or Dark label.
A playing switch begins a new listening segment
The current player closes the previous listening segment with a switch-mood reason, records a mood-switched event with the old and new mood IDs, and starts a segment for the selected mood. Those events show that a control was used, not how much audio reached your ears or whether you concentrated better. Choosing a card while playback is stopped does not itself record a new play-start event.
When you navigate to another WorkMusic page, the bottom mini player follows the current mood. Its play/pause and mute buttons remain available. It is not a playlist queue: a carousel card explicitly changes the scene. To return to a previous mood, choose its card again or open its mood page.
If changing sound becomes the task, pause, choose a scene, and return to work. WorkMusic cannot decide which mood is best for your writing or coding. Open the player to compare them yourself; no signup is required to listen.
