What Happens When You Dislike a WorkMusic Track?
A close look at WorkMusic track votes: when a dislike skips, why one downvoted track can return, and the current limits of undo.
Disliking a track in WorkMusic removes it from that mood's rotation on your current browser and, when another track is available, skips to the next one. One exception matters: if you dislike every available track in a mood, the player leaves one playable rather than falling silent. The player does not currently offer a vote-history screen to undo a dislike after the track disappears.
Find the controls while a mood is playing
Start a mood on WorkMusic. Once a track starts, the thumbs-up and thumbs-down controls appear beside the large play button. They apply to the current track, not to every track in the mood. If you do not see them, confirm that a track actually started; the controls are not shown while the player is stopped or still loading.
Press thumbs down if that particular track interrupts your work. When the mood has another playable track, the player skips ahead and excludes the disliked track from subsequent turns through that mood. This is more precise than abandoning a mood because one track does not fit. Press thumbs up if you like the current track; it records a positive vote, but it does not promise to replay that track next or personalize the entire library instantly.
Why a disliked track might still play
WorkMusic's current player keeps a playable-track floor. If you have downvoted all the tracks available in a mood, it lets the oldest downvoted track remain in rotation. The downvote is still stored. If more tracks later become available, the player can exclude that track again. The feedback beside the player says when it has reached this last-playable-track case, rather than pretending the track has been skipped.
The choice is a playback safeguard, not a judgment about your vote. If none of the available tracks works for you, try a different mood or pause the music. Turning up the volume or repeatedly downvoting the only remaining track will not create a better alternative.
Can you undo a dislike?
An active thumbs-down button can be pressed again to clear the vote while its track is visible. You can also change it to thumbs up. But in an ordinary mood with other playable tracks, a dislike skips and hides that track from the rotation. You cannot reliably get back to it through the current player to clear the vote. The all-disliked safeguard is different: its one playable track remains accessible. We do not want to imply that every dislike has an easy undo button after the skip.
On this browser, WorkMusic stores track choices in local storage, which MDN describes as storage for the current site in the browser. Clearing site data, using another browser, or browsing privately can change which choices this device remembers. WorkMusic also submits a vote to its server. If that request fails, the player restores your previous vote and shows an error instead of claiming the change was saved. A thumbs-up or thumbs-down is feedback about a track, not evidence that your focus improved.
